Newborn always seems to be the time frame that flies by the quickest. Those little babies seem to change and grow everyday. Take it from the mother of a two-year old, you forget they were ever that small!
In my eyes newborns are amazingly peaceful. You might not think that in the middle of the night when they are hungry, but somehow when they sleep it all just disappears. These are the moments that I love to photograph. When their bodies are still in a scrunched up position and even a yawn can tire them out. I usually book 1.5 -2 hours for these shoots because someone always gets a little hungry or a little cranky, but it seems to pass in seconds. And I'll let you in on a little secret, I kind of like those cranky baby pictures.
I always welcome parents to participate in newborn shoots as well. In fact I love it. You may think that you’ve never looked worse after you’ve only slept for 2 hours all night. But one thing always shines through in a photograph, the pure love and joy that you feel for your little bundle of joy. Photographs see right through the exhaustion right to the way your eyes sparkle just by looking at your miracle.
As a parent you will undoubtedly love each and every wonderful stage and milestone. But when your child starts speaking to you in full sentences it is nice to be able to take out those newborn shots and reminisce about a time when all they needed was you.
